Heart of the Matter

"And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength."

Where your heart is, your body will follow. Think about it, when you love something you go after it. The food you love, you eat—the sports you love, you play—the people we love, we have a relationship with them and love them. It is the same principle with God. When we love God, we should be “all in,” giving that relationship with Him our whole heart, whole soul, and all of our strength.

One way to be “all in” with God is to read His word. If you want to know God, really know Him, read the Bible. You will learn of His character, what is important to Him, and what angers Him. You will learn how consistent He is and how much He loves you. Bring God into your daily life, not just when things aren’t going well. Figure out how you connect to God. Is it through nature, music, studying the Bible, or going to church? Anything that makes you want to draw near to Him is what matters. God is real, and He wants a relationship with you.

Father,

Teach me what it would look like to love you with all my heart, body, and soul. Show me how I can be “all in” in our relationship. I want that, but at times I am at a loss because you can feel very distant to me. I know you are not far away, so help me move past my feelings and get to the truth.
