Easter - Where It Happened

DAY 4 OF 15

In Ancient Rome, before paper was invented, wax was used to sign clay tablets. Later in the Middle Ages, wax seals were used to sign contracts or letters instead of a signature. A king would use an official wax seal, showing their authority. They often had the stamp made as a signet ring so only they could seal something in their name, showing their ownership and authority over what was written in the document.

The Bible says that when Jesus is our Lord, He marks us with His seal, showing His ownership of our lives. God places His stamp on us, showing that we belong to Him.

When a person places their wax seal on their property, it marks it as theirs. If sometime later another person tries to claim it, the wax seal proves it belongs to the owner of the seal. The Bible says that through Jesus we are sealed with the Holy Spirit. This guarantees our place belonging to God. When we accept Jesus as our Saviour, He places His seal upon us, we are His and He is Lord of our lives.
