Untold Stories: Remembering the Faithfulness of God

DAY 10 OF 10

Holy Bride

One Sunday at North Palm Church, our worship team spontaneously sang the lyric: “I don't want to take lightly Your presence anymore.” A holy awe of the Lord filled the room as everyone came to the same mindset of desiring to treat the presence of God with care and reverence. From that place, our team wrote the song “Holy Bride” based on Ephesians 5:27: “So that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.”

The Lord is coming back for a holy Bride, a church that has made herself ready. We are invited, by the beauty of the gospel, to allow the Lord to wash us with His word and make us spotless, without corruption. We cannot be a holy Bride without the holy Bridegroom, Jesus. He makes us holy; we cannot do it in our strength or through our own logic. This takes the pressure off of us to perform or earn this holiness. All we have to do is allow the word of God to wash over us and renew our minds; it is a work of the Spirit. Only God can take our sins, as red as scarlet, and make them as white as snow. Isaiah 1:18 says: “Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red like crimson,
they shall become like wool.”

Pray this prayer with me:
Lord, make me a holy Bride. Renew my mind and transform me into Your image. Wash me with Your word and show me anything that offends You. I don't want to take Your presence lightly anymore.
