Anxiety

DAY 16 OF 30

When Anxiety Shows Up Spiritually

Anxiety not only affects the body, mind, and emotions. Sometimes it shows up in our spiritual life. It can feel harder to pray, more difficult to worship, or easier to doubt God’s goodness when anxious feelings are loud. You may feel like God is far away, even though He has promised that He is near.

Think about the times when you have sat down to pray but your mind could not focus because of everything you were worried about. Or when you wanted to read Scripture but felt restless, like the words were not sinking in. Anxiety can whisper lies: God does not hear you. God is not with you. God will not come through.

But the truth of Scripture cuts through those lies. Peter reminds us to cast all our anxiety on God because He cares for us. To cast means to throw it off, to place it into His hands. Anxiety does not have to keep you from God — it can be the very reason you run to Him. He welcomes your cares and holds you with compassion.

Prayer:
Lord, when anxious feelings make it hard to pray or trust You, remind me that You care for me. Help me to release my burdens into Your hands and draw near to You with confidence.

Daily Challenge:
Set aside 5 minutes today to pray honestly. Tell God the exact anxious thoughts you are carrying, then release each one to Him as you repeat 1 Peter 5:7.

About this Plan

Anxiety

Anxious thoughts. Racing worries. Sleepless nights. For many of us, anxiety has become part of our everyday vocabulary, even something we call “my anxiety.” But what if God never intended for anxiety to take permanent residence in our lives? Over the next 30 days you will explore what anxiety is, where it comes from, how it shows up in our lives, and what God’s Word says about overcoming it. Anxiety is real, but it does not have to define you. Let’s walk through this plan together and take our peace back.
