Anxiety

DAY 18 OF 30

Biblical Snapshots of Anxiety — The Disciples and Overthinking

Jesus was preparing His disciples for hardship. Arrests and trials were ahead, and the weight of what could happen was real. But instead of telling them to rehearse answers or plan their defense, He said the opposite: “Do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time, you will be given what to say.” He knew how easily anxious overthinking could consume them, and how much they needed to rest in His promise.

Overthinking magnifies problems and leaves no room for peace. It tricks us into believing that if we think long enough, we can prepare for every outcome. But Scripture points us in a better direction. Paul tells us to think on what is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, and admirable. Instead of rehearsing our worries, we can redirect our thoughts toward God’s truth. That shift opens the door for peace.

Prayer:
Lord, I confess that I often overthink situations and try to prepare for every possible outcome. Remind me that You will give me what I need in the moment. Teach me to shift my thoughts from worry to what is true and lovely, so I can walk in Your peace.

Daily Challenge:
Catch yourself when you begin to overthink today. Pause, breathe, and write down one truth from God’s Word. Speak it out loud and let it replace the anxious loop in your mind.

About this Plan

Anxiety

Anxious thoughts. Racing worries. Sleepless nights. For many of us, anxiety has become part of our everyday vocabulary, even something we call “my anxiety.” But what if God never intended for anxiety to take permanent residence in our lives? Over the next 30 days you will explore what anxiety is, where it comes from, how it shows up in our lives, and what God’s Word says about overcoming it. Anxiety is real, but it does not have to define you. Let’s walk through this plan together and take our peace back.
