What Does It Mean to Be Human?નમૂનો

The challenge: Resisting reconnection
Being close to God does not automatically mean we are connected to His heart. The elder son stayed home, obeyed the rules and never physically left the father’s house, yet his heart was distant. His resentment and self-righteousness kept him from rejoicing in the grace shown to his younger brother. Proximity doesn’t equal intimacy; living near God or others doesn’t guarantee connection if pride, bitterness, or comparison rule our hearts.
God’s love, however, reaches both kinds of hearts. Whether we wander like the younger son or resist like the elder, His grace invites us into relationship. And as restored children, we are called to reflect that love outward. Connection is both received and extended. We are invited to rejoice in others’ restoration, forgive, and break cycles of pride and resentment.
To be human is to be created for connection – with God first, and then with others. The Father’s love breaks through shame and pride. Our relationships flourish not through performance or control but through humility, grace, and willingness to love like Him. Both sons were disconnected, and both were pursued by the father, showing that God’s heart always seeks to restore.
Reflection:
Do I resist reconciliation with God or others due to pride, jealousy, or resentment? How can I take a step this week toward restoring connection?
Prayer:
Father, thank you for your unending love that draws me home. Help me to receive your grace fully and extend that same love to others, living as a reflection of your heart in every relationship. Amen.
