Have you ever been through a season of life that felt like a never-ending struggle? One day your hot water heater breaks, the next you find a leak in your garage, the next you end up with an unexpected car expense, the next you miss a deadline at work, and, before you can even get your head around all that, you end up stuck in bed with the flu. That old saying, “When it rains, it pours,” really starts to feel real, doesn’t it? Well, this passage from the prophet Isaiah is a much better adage to hold onto in those moments. Sometimes life feels like we’re passing through rough waters, or trying to make it upstream against a raging river, or walking through a literal fire.
While these words may have been given to people living thousands of years ago, their power remains true for us today. Life will be hard at times; unfortunately, that’s a guarantee in this fallen world. But what’s also a guarantee is that God will be with us in all of it always. That is a promise we can fall back on no matter what we’re facing in this life. This Easter season, share this passage with someone you know who might need the reminder. Let it reveal to you both the presence of Jesus in your lives, especially in seasons of struggle.

The story of Easter really is the story of a miracle. A miracle preceded by many others that all ultimately point us to one thing: the truth of who God is, how God loves us, and the way God is working on our behalf. In this devotional, we’ll look at three major miracles recorded in the gospel of John. As we do, we’ll see that these miracles were all pointing us toward something greater. We’ll see the reveal of the greatest miracle of all: the resurrection of Jesus.
