Can you imagine this scene for a second? Jesus and His disciples had drawn a crowd. Not just any crowd, but literally thousands of people who had followed them to hear from and learn more about who this infamous Jesus might be. But by day’s end, a problem arose: The people were hungry, and there was nothing to eat. The disciples were in a panic. Unsure of what to do, they looked to Jesus for help—for a miracle. And you know what? A miracle is exactly what they got! With nothing but a few loaves of bread and some fish, Jesus multiplied the meal to feed every single person—all 5,000 in fact!
While we may not find ourselves in the same position as the disciples, we can all probably relate to the feeling of desperately needing provision. We all know what it feels like to pray to God to show up, to do something, to provide. What this story—this miracle—reminds us is that the very same God who made a way to feed thousands is the same God we serve today. He is the God who can make what feels like a miracle out of our own mess. All we have to do is ask and open our eyes to see it when He responds.

The story of Easter really is the story of a miracle. A miracle preceded by many others that all ultimately point us to one thing: the truth of who God is, how God loves us, and the way God is working on our behalf. In this devotional, we’ll look at three major miracles recorded in the gospel of John. As we do, we’ll see that these miracles were all pointing us toward something greater. We’ll see the reveal of the greatest miracle of all: the resurrection of Jesus.
