BOXED IN - 21 Day Journey To Easter Through The Book Of LukeExemplo
Boxed in by Doubt
When life doesn’t meet our expectations it causes us to doubt. This seems to happen most often when we find ourselves in difficult situations. It’s natural to doubt, as we try to mitigate the pain of disappointment and potential failure. But doubt can also rob us of joy and hope for a better future.
As John the Baptist awaited execution in his prison cell, things were not going as he expected. Skepticism began to creep in. He had given his life to one purpose: prepare the way for the Messiah, Jesus. He wanted to believe, but also needed some reassurance. John didn’t let his doubt box him in though. Instead, he sent out friends to help him investigate the truth and find evidence to support his faith.
We all want and need to be reassured that our hope in Jesus is real. We should expect seasons of struggle, pain, and disappointment. It’s natural to doubt. But it’s dangerous to get stuck there and let it box in our faith. We should use doubt to motivate us to search for the truth, which leads to greater freedom, hope, and joy.
Question: What doubts or curiosities about your faith might be leading you to search for truth and a deeper understanding of faith?
