Thy Son Liveth: Miracles Still HappenExemplo

Thy Son Liveth: Miracles Still Happen

A basket for every doubt

“Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may have a little.” John 6:7 NKJV

What are denarii (penny)? Denarii is a form of currency in which an agriculture worker was paid for one day’s work. So Phillip was looking to bring clarity to the impossibility of trying to feed 5,000 men plus women and children. He knew that even if 200 people gave their full days earning, there wouldn’t be enough bread.

Jesus knew exactly who to ask.

Logic kills a miracle all the time. Let’s face it. If you could do it in your own strength it wouldn’t constitute as a miracle. Jesus didn’t ask Phillip “do we have enough money?” He asked, “Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?” (v 5, NKJV)

Jesus is not looking for a reminder of what you do not have. He’s looking for an agreement that God is able to supply all our needs and do exceedingly and abundantly above what we ask or think if we’re willing to start with what we do have.

Phillip answers incorrectly. Andrew has a suggestion (mixed with doubt) and Jesus knows that with a little faith He can go a long way. "Make the people sit down." (v 10, NKJV)

“Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks, He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fishes, as much as they wanted. So when they were filled, He said to His disciples, “Gather up the fragments that remain, so that nothing is lost. Therefore they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves which were left over by those who had eaten.” (John 6:11-13 NKJV)

A basket for every doubting disciple! A little faith goes a long way. Allow God to see you trying with what you have and He’ll blow you away with the end results.

Thy Son Liveth: Miracles Still Happen

God is still in the miracle business and miracles are a part of the Kingdom experience. I love miracles and believe that God wants to do exceedingly abundantly in our lives for His namesake. Miracles also occur to encourage faith in nonbelievers. In this 7-day plan I compiled a list of some of the miracles I found in the book of John. Read and be encouraged - miracles still happen.
