Heart for the HouseExemplo
An Empowering House
Steven Richards
Many have referred to the teachings of Jesus as "the upside-down kingdom." In the scriptures, we can see that Jesus, on numerous occasions, teaches that we build something lasting and transcendent when we do the opposite of our natural instinct. This leads me to the following question: how do we live an empowered and purposeful life?
Our instinct may tell us that it is to achieve the greatest influence, authority, resources, and well-being. But when we look at Jesus' way, we find an answer that is much simpler, yet profound. We find purpose by empowering others!
I love the definition of the word "empower"; it means to make someone stronger and more confident. How do people feel after having a conversation with you? Do they feel capable and encouraged, or do they feel that their weaknesses weigh more than their strengths?
The heart of His house is to empower all people to lead and to make an impact in every area of life. But beyond the personal, it is our responsibility to empower the local church and its cause. We must encourage it to be all that God has called it to be. It is in the local church that the lost come home, where people flourish, lives are transformed, and the name of Jesus is lifted up.
The local church is the hope of the world, and we, as part of the body of Jesus, have a responsibility. Let us care for those whom God has placed around us.
Never get tired of seeing potential in others! Be the kind of person who believes in them, even more than they believe in themselves.
