Heart for the HouseExemplo
A Generous House
Chris Mendez
In Matthew 14, we see that a multitude had gathered throughout the day to hear Jesus' teachings. At night, the disciples recommended that Jesus begin to dismiss the crowd, as they had no food to give them. But upon hearing this, Jesus refused, telling them to take care of feeding them themselves.
The disciples at this point did what many of us usually do in the face of a challenge and responded with an excuse, “We can't."
How many of us have uttered those words, "I don't have much," "I can't," "I'm not able," "The need is too great..."?
The disciples had five loaves of bread and two fish, so they gave them to Jesus. When they put them in His hands, He blessed them and multiplied them. Then he told them to feed the crowd.
God always wants to involve us in what He is doing. The amazing thing about this is that He, whom we serve, is more than enough. When we bring what we have in our hands and put it in His, Jesus multiplies it, as well as our reach and impact.
You may think that you cannot make a difference, that you have little in your hands. But generosity has never been about an amount, but, rather, about the sacrifice that each of us makes to see the kingdom of God expand. I encourage you to fill your heart with faith and bring your loaves and fish into Jesus' hands. He can do so much more than we can on our own.
Together, we can make a difference. Together we can be an answer where there is need. You have so much to give, but when you connect with another person who has a Heart for the House, you have so much more. I encourage you to have faith that God will put the EXTRA in our ORDINARY.
We have a Heart for the House because God has a Heart for the House!
