SUPPORTING THOSE WHO ARE HUMILIATED
How must Jesus have felt? He was sentenced to death, flogged and a group of people were called together to humiliate him. He was beaten, spat at and mocked. And all that while he was innocent. The question arises as to why he allowed this to happen. He would have had every right in the world and the power in heaven to fight against this. But for some reason he did not do so.
It was more important for him to prove strength in weakness and not to push for his rights. He knew his father would take care of that. By doing this he proved to be the true king, who gives hope to the humiliated and identifies with them. He knows how it feels to be mocked and what it means to be weak. Jesus knows what suffering is because of his own, painful experience. That is why he is there for those who are humiliated.
Many people know stories about suppressed people and victims of bullying at school, at work, in clubs or within the family. People who are humiliated and degraded like Jesus. They, too, do not deserve to be treated like that. That is why they need people who support them. This is where you come into play.
ACTION STEP:
Jesus stands by the mocked. If Jesus does this, so should we. Be courageous and support the mocked in your environment, stand by their side like Jesus and give them hope. Decide to be attentive today and give someone a word of encouragement and hope.

About this Plan

For many people Easter is merely a nice spring festival. However, the origin of Easter is powerful and relevant for all people. During this time, we celebrate that Jesus died and resurrected for us. By doing this, something incredible happened. In this reading plan we want to engage ourselves with the last 24 hours in the life of Jesus. Jesus’ death on the cross is not the end, but the beginning of something totally new. For each one of us. – “Because I live, you also will live.” John 14:19
