NEXT STEPS: Lead A Home GroupSample
HOSPITALITY
Have you ever been invited to someone’s house and it was dirty, there wasn’t enough food and they acted more like you were intruding, even though they invited you!? Or maybe you’ve gone into a store and no one asks if you need help, the shelves are a mess and it looks like it hasn’t been stocked for a month.
Hospitality goes a long way. It draws people in, makes them feel a part of something, and leaves them wanting to return. Being hospitable is the action behind the love for people. If you want people to know that you love them, you think about them long before they arrive to your home or church. You prepare to serve them with the gifts God has given you and you do it out of love without complaining. Practically speaking, you clean your house (and yourself), you have more than enough food to feed everyone you’ve invited, it smells nice, and you greet them at the door.
If you’ve done all of that, your guests will know that you have prepared for them in advance. As you lead a group, your actions will go before you, so spend time thinking about the person that will be coming to your home and what would make them feel welcomed!
