Devotional: The Glory of our Father
All things were created by God to bring glory to Him. God will not share His glory with any other being (1 Chronicles 29:11-12, Psalm 19:1-2 Chronicles 5:14, Isaiah 60:1-2). The very first thing Jesus taught His disciples to pray was “Hallowed be Your Name”. Everything Jesus did was for the Father’s glory. He did not live to be admired by men (John 12:27-28, John 1:14).
Fleshly living exalts the self and draws people to oneself instead of to God. We must live to make God famous! A person who lives to see the glory of God is someone whose life becomes the platform or foundation for others to do greater works (Exodus 33:18, Luke 5:15-16).
Reflective questions:
- In what areas are you still serving yourself and not glorifying our Father?
- Submit the above-mentioned areas to God and ask Him to change your heart.
- How do you think you can glorify God at your work, school, lecture room, etc.?
