"Steadfast Love”

SCRIPUTRE:

Psalm 63:1-4 (ESV)

O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you;

my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you,

as in a dry and weary land where there is no water. So I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory. Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you. So I will bless you as long as I live;

in your name I will lift up my hands. 

OBSERVATION:

David is in the wilderness when he writes this Psalm. He reminds himself and the reader that security and hope come from God alone. In this place of desolation and isolation the only comfort he seeks is his trust in the Lord. He sings knowing that he has witnessed the power and glory of God. David can and will praise God regardless of circumstances, that in spite of desperation, he will bless God. He does not fear for his life, because the love of God is better than life itself.

APPLICATION:

I hope to have the same response as David, that in any and every situation, circumstances won’t dictate my praise to God or my trust in Him, but His love and glory would always be my inspiration. May my praises be as constant as His love for me. I know that I will go through tough times; through moments of extreme desperation, and in those moments, I pray that I would respond as David did in this psalm and hope completely in God. In every high and every low, God’s love is always there for me, I just have to seek after Him and receive that love from Him. 

PRAYER:

Lord, thank you for your unending love for me. May I always bless Your name and find my complete security in You.  I love you! Amen.
