"Unfailing Love”

SCRIPTURE: 

Psalm 143: 1, 5-6, 8-10 (NIV)

“Lord, hear my prayer, listen to my cry for mercy; in your faithfulness and righteousness come to my relief . . . I meditate on all your works and consider what your hands have done. I spread out my hands to you; I thirst for you like a parched land . . . Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life. Rescue me from my enemies, Lord, for I hide myself in you. Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good spirit lead me on level ground.” 

OBSERVATION: 

Reading through this passage, I realized it was a Psalm of lament. Throughout the first few verses, David addresses that he has been struggling to sit in the presence of God and fighting off the darkness would make his spirit grow faint. David reflects on his simpler lifestyle when all he had to worry about was his sheep and sitting in awe of who God was. He goes on and asks God to continue to guide and teach him towards His will and to protect him from his enemies. 

APPLICATION: 

I can apply this to my life because as I get older, I get busier and sometimes I forget to just sit in the wonder of who God is and reflect on His goodness! Reading this passage, I realized how important it is to meditate on the word of God. No matter how far I run away from the Lord, He is always constant and His unfailing love never leaves me! Reflecting on the Lord’s goodness in thankfulness, casting my mind to the things above! Sit and meditate on God’s love letter to me! 

PRAYER: Thank you Lord for Your goodness and reminding me how important it is for me to take time out to sit and read Your word even in the midst of chaos. Forgive me for running off and doing my own thing when I get busy, Lord. Thank you Lord for protecting me from my enemies and Your never-ending love!
