"Sexodus" Relationships DevotionalSample
Cast Your Anxiety
Interestingly enough, this verse doesn't say, "Cast all your anxiety on your spouse because they care for you." It says we are to cast our anxiety on Jesus. Because our spouse is physically near us, it's easy to take the shortcut and unload our frustrations and worry on them - but that's not healthy. Not only will it result in double the burden, but in reality, God is the only one who can truly bring peace anyways. The next time you find yourself about to 'vent' with nothing but anxiety and worry, consider taking a few minutes to present those thoughts to God and read this verse over. This perspective could save your marriage a lot of tension and unnecessary fights.
Brainstorm ideas with your future spouse on how to check if you're giving your anxiety to God, or burdedning them with it.
