DAY 5 OF 5

"Joy From Pain"

Samuel

Even before Samuel's birth, he was dedicated to the Lord by his mother, Hannah. He received specialized training in the ministry of the Lord. Samuel became a priest. He brought the people back to God. Remember, God gives you joyful experiences too.

· Keeping the faith is challenging.

· Depend on God when others doubt.

· See and accept the joy in your life by counting what you do have.

Identify a time when you felt the happiest.

What feelings and thoughts do you have when you doubt God?

Share the joy of loving God with someone.

When we hear bad news or experience tough times it can be hard to hold on to our joy. It is OK to feel angry, frustrated, or sad but we must not give up hope or take actions that cause us to sin. In 1 Thessalonians 5:18 Paul said, “In everything give thanks.” Why should we be thankful in bad times? Because the spirit of joy is what gives us the strength to keep the faith and press through to the good times.

Reflection Scriptures:

1 Samuel 1:9–11, 20

1 Samuel 24–28; 3:1–10

Psalm 94:19

1 Thessalonians 5:16-19

About this Plan

JUST LIKE US

As we experience the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, feelings of isolation, anxiety, and stress can overwhelm us. But we must remember that "All things work together for the good of those who are called by His name," -Romans 8:28. When reading the Bible we often forget that God's people had dreams, goals, and the struggles, just like us. By trusting God, as they did, we can overcome our trials.
