GO2020 | ENGAGE: June Week 3 - ABIDESample
June 15—The Adversary
Read
1 Peter 5:6-11
Reflect
The apostle Peter asserts that we have an adversary, the devil. Peter instructs us regarding our posture in this reality. We should humble ourselves before God, not assuming that we can do battle against Satan. With our trust properly placed in God, God will not only lift us up, but he will also receive all our anxieties and will care for us. We must not forget that the attacks of the adversary are spiritual and will often come through the channel of our mind. Therefore, we are to be sober and watchful. Be alert!
Engage
Read today’s Scripture passage. Say or write it out in your own words, considering the following questions:
· What does it say about God?
· What does it say about us?
· Is there a promise to trust?
· Is there a command to obey?
· How will I apply this Scripture to my life?
· Who will I show that I care by sharing this truth?
Memorize
Now read this week’s memory verse, 1 Peter 5:8. Spend a few minutes beginning to memorize it.

About this Plan
We are in a battle. The war has already been won. Jesus has totally and overwhelmingly won the war! However, we are in what we could call the “mopping-up” stage. We are in between two important events: the time between Christ’s definitive victory on the cross and his triumphant return to earth. In this in-between stage we are called to make disciples who in turn make disciples.
