GO2020 | ENGAGE: June Week 3 - ABIDESample
June 20—Pray for New Believers
Read
2 Thessalonians 3:1-3
Reflect
Once again, Paul is asking for prayer. His specific request is that “the Lord’s message may continue to spread rapidly and be received with honor” (verse 1 GNT), just as it did in Thessalonica. This is an important prayer to offer in our time when many are not aware of God’s Word, or they ignore or even disdain it. May the Word be accompanied by a dynamic and living witness to the power of God to change lives, for “not everyone believes the message” (verse 2 GNT). As we pray, we can be sure that God is faithful and that he will keep us “safe from the Evil One” (verse 3 GNT).
Engage
Read today’s Scripture passage. Say or write it out in your own words, considering the following questions:
· What does it say about God?
· What does it say about us?
· Is there a promise to trust?
· Is there a command to obey?
· How will I apply this Scripture to my life?
· Who will I show that I care by sharing this truth?
Memorize
Now read this week’s memory verse, 1 Peter 5:8. Spend a few minutes committing it to memory.

About this Plan
We are in a battle. The war has already been won. Jesus has totally and overwhelmingly won the war! However, we are in what we could call the “mopping-up” stage. We are in between two important events: the time between Christ’s definitive victory on the cross and his triumphant return to earth. In this in-between stage we are called to make disciples who in turn make disciples.
