GO2020 | ENGAGE: June Week 3 - ABIDESample
June 18—Get Your Armor on!
Read
Ephesians 6:14-17
Reflect
The image of the Roman armor was nothing strange for Paul’s original audience. We have to rely on movies, history books, or the internet to help us gain a visual of what he is talking about. Each part of the armor is associated with a spiritual truth that is needed in our warfare with Satan and his forces. Every piece of the armor is defensive in nature, except one. Which one is offensive? The sword—“the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God” (verse 17 ESV). Knowing and obeying God’s Word is our one offensive weapon. How is your swordsmanship?
Engage
Read today’s Scripture passage. Say or write it out in your own words, considering the following questions:
· What does it say about God?
· What does it say about us?
· Is there a promise to trust?
· Is there a command to obey?
· How will I apply this Scripture to my life?
· Who will I show that I care by sharing this truth?
Memorize
Now read this week’s memory verse, 1 Peter 5:8. Spend a few minutes working to memorize it.

About this Plan
We are in a battle. The war has already been won. Jesus has totally and overwhelmingly won the war! However, we are in what we could call the “mopping-up” stage. We are in between two important events: the time between Christ’s definitive victory on the cross and his triumphant return to earth. In this in-between stage we are called to make disciples who in turn make disciples.
