Chapter 27 begins a series of warnings. It’s worth noting that Proverbs carries more than just practical advice. In the Hebrew wisdom tradition, there is a deeper wisdom encouraged more than simple advice or instruction. Proverbs (along with other wisdom books in the Old Testament) are presenting for us a way to view reality in light of the story of humans and how God is working through them. This doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t go to Proverbs for advice, but it’s inviting us to think deeper than that; to reflect deeply on these writings and to allow them to influence the way we see reality. 

Taiwan has a history of idol worship and spiritualism. Let's pray that the Lord would reveal Himself to the people of this country, so they may come to find real hope in the One who can save them, turning them away from their idols.
