Your New Identity For A New EraSample

INHERITED IDENTITY

But to all who did receive him, he gave them the right to be children of God, to those who believe in his name... (John 1:12, CSB)

Having received Jesus into your life, by faith — believing and knowing that He lives within you by His Holy Spirit — you can be confident in your new identity in Christ. I read a beautiful story the other day about a little girl who was flying home and seated alone. Curled up in her seat reading a book, she was blissfully unaware of  the forceful turbulence that the plane was experiencing. All the other passengers were on high alert, some voicing their terror, others clinging to their chairs. Every now and then this child would stop reading, look up and around, and then happily return to her book. Once the turbulence had passed, the man sitting in the aisle next to her enquired as to how she stayed so calm through a very bumpy ride. She smiled at him and quietly answered, “O, I’m OK. My Dad is the pilot and he is taking me home.” This is a picture of the confidence you can have in your loving Father, who is your Dad and through all the turbulence of life, He will be sure to get you to your eternal home safely.

The only way to genuinely get to know someone is to spend time with them. Jesus made it clear that the Father is in Him and He is in the Father; they are one. As believers, you are in Him. He is not close to you but in you. There is no need to pray for Him to come and visit since He already indwells you by His Holy Spirit. The more space you make in your life for Him, the deeper He can work through you. You can consult Him in all things, the daily matters of life, and anything that concerns you. You can never take a wrong path when God is leading you, but it is a decision to create greater capacity in your heart so that He has all of you. What you deem to be urgent, He may push aside and cause you to rest. When you see matters from His perspective, your life can do a turnaround as you learn how God views time and your life. God desires to draw you in closer and to get you to the place of His choosing.

Make me one with you in every way, in spirit, soul, and body.
