 Week Two - Day One - God is always with me

Welcome to our Time to Shine devotional!  As we journey together through this devotional, we pray it will help our kids to understand that God is light.  He has given us His spirit to help us navigate through the darkness, just like a lighthouse helps ships to navigate dangerous waters, God’s light helps us to navigate this life.  We find HIis light in His word, in His people and in His presence.  Through well known Bible Stories we want our kids to know that the darkness cannot overpower God’s light!

‘The Lame Man’ in the Beginners Bible (pages 484 - 487) or in Acts 3:1-10.

One day, Peter and John were going to the temple - this is a bit like a Church Building where God’s people came together to pray and worship together. 

It started out as a normal, ordinary day for Peter and John. There was nothing special about it, they didn’t know that they would see a miracle that day. 

God uses us even on our normal, ordinary days.

ASK:

How do you think God can use you this week?  

REMEMBER:

The Light shines in the darkness. And the darkness has not overpowered the Light. (John 1:5)

SAY:

I can shine your light in the darkness,

With your love and kindness.

We don't ever need to fear,

Because you are always near.

Your light is forever,

Overpowered by darkness?  Never!

We can trust in your light,

Shining so bright.

Leading us through even the darkest days, 

In your love and hope we will always stay.

In Jesus name, Amen.
