Week Six - Day Seven - God wins!

Welcome to our Time to Shine devotional!  As we journey together through this devotional, we pray it will help our kids to understand that God is light.  He has given us His spirit to help us navigate through the darkness, just like a lighthouse helps ships to navigate dangerous waters, God’s light helps us to navigate this life.  We find His light in His word, in His people and in His presence.  Through well known Bible Stories we want our kids to know that the darkness cannot overpower God’s light!  

READ:

‘Jesus is Coming’ in the Beginners Bible (Pages 504-508) or in Revelation 1:1-2 & 21:2-4.

At the end of John’s vision Jesus told him, “I am coming back soon.” God always wanted his children, that’s us, to be with him forever. 

When Adam and Eve did the bad thing in the Garden of Eden, it meant that was not possible. But God had a plan - He sent Jesus to tell us all about how much God loves us. Jesus came and died on the cross so that we could talk with God and have a relationship with Him! Jesus rose from the grave and went to heaven to prepare a wonderful home for us all. 

The sneaky snake tried to stop us from knowing and loving God. But Jesus showed us that we can love God and that He loves us! So God wins! God is on our side and we belong to Him! We are His children and He is our Father in Heaven - we are family. 

ASK:

What is the most exciting thing about being part of God’s family?  Let’s praise God today - put on some worship music and thank and praise God for being so good! 

REMEMBER:

The Light shines in the darkness. And the darkness has not overpowered the Light. (John 1:5) 

SAY:

I can shine your light in the darkness, 

With your love and kindness.

We don't ever need to fear,

Because you are always near.

Your light is forever,

Overpowered by darkness?  Never!

We can trust in your light,

Shining so bright.

Leading us through even the darkest days, 

In your love and hope we will always stay.
