Week Five - Day Six - Through every trial

Welcome to our Time to Shine devotional!  As we journey together through this devotional, we pray it will help our kids to understand that God is light.  He has given us His spirit to help us navigate through the darkness, just like a lighthouse helps ships to navigate dangerous waters, God’s light helps us to navigate this life.  We find His light in His word, in His people and in His presence.  Through well known Bible Stories we want our kids to know that the darkness cannot overpower God’s light!  

READ:

‘Earthquake in Prison’ in the Beginners Bible (pages 500 - 503) or in Acts 16:24-34.

The prison guard invited Paul and Silas into his house. He was amazed that God had protected them in prison. 

Paul and Silas told the guard and his family all about Jesus. The guard and his family decided to follow Jesus! 

God used Paul and Silas being in prison and turned something that was bad into something that was good; God’s plan is always the best plan. 

ASK:

Is there anyone that you can think of, a friend or family member, that you can talk to about Jesus? 

REMEMBER:

The Light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overpowered the Light (John 1:5) 

SAY:

I can shine your light in the darkness, 

With your love and kindness.

We dont ever need to fear,

Because you are always near.

Your light is forever,

Overpowered by darkness?  Never!

We can trust in your light,

Shining so bright.

Leading us through even the darkest days, 

In your love and hope we will always stay.

In Jesus name, Amen.
