Week Six - Day One - God wins!

Welcome to our Time to Shine devotional!  As we journey together through this devotional, we pray it will help our kids to understand that God is light.  He has given us His spirit to help us navigate through the darkness, just like a lighthouse helps ships to navigate dangerous waters, God’s light helps us to navigate this life.  We find His light in His word, in His people and in His presence.  Through well known Bible Stories we want our kids to know that the darkness cannot overpower God’s light!  

READ:

‘Jesus is Coming’ in the Beginners Bible (pages 504 - 508) or in Revelation 1:1-2 & 21:2-4.

The disciples spent many years travelling and telling people about Jesus. 

Just before Jesus went to Heaven, he told the disciples that one day he would return to earth (go find ‘Jesus Goes To Heaven’ page 466 in the Beginners Bible).  But until He did, Jesus told the disciples to tell everyone about Him. 

One of Jesus' disciples called John lived on an Island. One day an Angel appeared to him in a vision! Come back tomorrow to learn more… 

ASK:

Just as Jesus’ disciples would tell everyone they met about Jesus, we can tell others too! 

REMEMBER:

The Light shines in the darkness. And the darkness has not overpowered the Light. (John 1:5) 

SAY:

I can shine your light in the darkness, 

With your love and kindness.

We don't ever need to fear,

Because you are always near.

Your light is forever,

Overpowered by darkness?  Never!

We can trust in your light,

Shining so bright.

Leading us through even the darkest days, 

In your love and hope we will always stay.

In Jesus name, Amen.
