Week Six - Day Five - God wins!

Welcome to our Time to Shine devotional!  As we journey together through this devotional, we pray it will help our kids to understand that God is light.  He has given us His spirit to help us navigate through the darkness, just like a lighthouse helps ships to navigate dangerous waters, God’s light helps us to navigate this life.  We find His light in His word, in His people and in His presence.  Through well known Bible Stories we want our kids to know that the darkness cannot overpower God’s light!  

READ:

‘Jesus is Coming’ in the Beginners Bible (Pages 504-508) or in Revelation 1:1-2 & 21:2-4.

In his vision, John saw a new heaven and a new earth. 

Can you think about all the things you would like to see when God makes a new heaven and earth? 

Only God is able to do this, God created the whole universe in the beginning and God will make all things new and wonderful again. 

ASK:

Have a look at the drawing or painting you made yesterday, is there anything you might like to add to it today?  

Or maybe you would like to make another painting, drawing or something else that you think heaven and earth may look like? 

REMEMBER:

The Light shines in the darkness. And the darkness has not overpowered the Light. (John 1:5) 

SAY:

I can shine your light in the darkness, 

With your love and kindness.

We don't ever need to fear,

Because you are always near.

Your light is forever,

Overpowered by darkness?  Never!

We can trust in your light,

Shining so bright.

Leading us through even the darkest days, 

In your love and hope we will always stay.

In Jesus name, Amen.
