Week Six - Day Four - God wins!

Welcome to our Time to Shine devotional!  As we journey together through this devotional, we pray it will help our kids to understand that God is light.  He has given us His spirit to help us navigate through the darkness, just like a lighthouse helps ships to navigate dangerous waters, God’s light helps us to navigate this life.  We find His light in His word, in His people and in His presence.  Through well known Bible Stories we want our kids to know that the darkness cannot overpower God’s light!  

READ:

‘Jesus is Coming’ in the Beginners Bible (Pages 504-508) or in Revelation 1:1-2 & 21:2-4.

In his vision, John saw God sitting on a throne. A rainbow was sparkling all around Him. 

Close your eyes now and try to imagine what John was seeing - how beautiful do you think this would be? 

John saw that everything bad on earth had come to an end. 

God loves us so much and promises us that everything bad on earth will come to an end - we can believe this because God is good and all His promises are true! 

ASK:

Do you know that God promises us that in Heaven there will be no more sickness, pain, crying or sadness - how amazing is that? 

Can you try to paint or draw a picture of what you think heaven will look like. 

REMEMBER:

The Light shines in the darkness. And the darkness has not overpowered the Light. (John 1:5) 

SAY:

I can shine your light in the darkness, 

With your love and kindness.

We don't ever need to fear,

Because you are always near.

Your light is forever,

Overpowered by darkness?  Never!

We can trust in your light,

Shining so bright.

Leading us through even the darkest days, 

In your love and hope we will always stay.

In Jesus name, Amen.
