Week Six - Day Six - God wins!

Welcome to our Time to Shine devotional!  As we journey together through this devotional, we pray it will help our kids to understand that God is light.  He has given us His spirit to help us navigate through the darkness, just like a lighthouse helps ships to navigate dangerous waters, God’s light helps us to navigate this life.  We find His light in His word, in His people and in His presence.  Through well known Bible Stories we want our kids to know that the darkness cannot overpower God’s light!  

READ:

‘Jesus is Coming’ in the Beginners Bible (Pages 504-508) or in Revelation 1:1-2 & 21:2-4.

In the vision God appeared to John and said, “There will be no more death or sadness or crying or pain. I will live with my people forever!”

God is so good and loves us all so much that His plan was to live in peace with us always - but if you remember, the sneaky snake tricked Eve into doing something that God had told her not to do and then Eve persuaded Adam to do the bad thing also. 

Go find the story of the sneaky snake on page 18-25 and remind yourself of what happened to Adam and Eve. 

ASK:

Can you remember why Adam and Eve had to leave the Garden of Eden? 

God’s plan was always that we should live in peace with Him forever and that’s why John’s vision of Jesus is so exciting!!! 

REMEMBER:

The Light shines in the darkness. And the darkness has not overpowered the Light. (John 1:5) 

SAY:

I can shine your light in the darkness, 

With your love and kindness.

We don't ever need to fear,

Because you are always near.

Your light is forever,

Overpowered by darkness? Never!

We can trust in your light,

Shining so bright.

Leading us through even the darkest days, 

In your love and hope we will always stay.
