PROMISES
When we are in seasons of transition, between the last step and the next one, we often hesitate. The fear of facing difficulty, pain, or trouble keeps us stuck and stagnant. Sometimes the last thing we want to hear is “God has a plan” or “This too shall pass.” All we can think about is the looming future. I imagine the disciples felt the same way upon hearing that Jesus would be leaving them. When they were with Jesus, all things seemed possible. What would they do without his physical presence? In John 16:33, Jesus tells his disciples—and us—that they could not avoid future troubles, but through him, they—and we—could have peace, because he had already won the battle against sin and evil. Because we abide in him, we don’t have to strive to have everything together before stepping forward in faith. Jesus never promised us easy, but he did promise us worthwhile.
Pray – Jesus, thank you for your peace when I fear what’s next for me. Show me the areas of my life where I am stuck and stagnant.
Plan – Write down a few areas of your life where you feel stuck.
Pursue – Pick one of those areas to pray through and consciously step into this week.
