WEARINESS
Doesn’t an easy and light life sound amazing? We carry so much with us. Think about how that burden might look physically: a backpack full of rocks that symbolize rejection, heartbreak, familial division, and other struggles. Somehow the burden grows heavier every morning. The next season of life feels daunting because the last one was so overwhelming. We cannot imagine how to walk forward with the heaviness we feel. Many of us carry this invisible backpack without realizing it. That’s why Jesus’s invitation is so incredible. In the act of trusting God’s plan over our own control, God lifts the weight of our own burdens from our shoulders. He longs to give us his strength and love to carry instead of our weariness. Jesus never promised us an easy path, but he does promise us rest and an easy burden in place of our own.
Pray – Jesus, I offer you my past pain, present unknowns, and future fears. Thank you for carrying my burdens and for giving me peace and strength for my next steps.
Plan – Make a list of the burdens that might be weighing you down right now.
Pursue – Pick one burden from your list and set intentional reminders this week to give that burden to God.
