ADVENTUROUSLY EXPECTANT
A life spent following Jesus is never boring. It’s a life full of adventure—though it may feel like riding a rollercoaster at times. We can’t always see where the twists and turns will take us. If we’re not careful, we can get caught up in fear rather than excitement. Jesus doesn’t expect us to have everything figured out in the moment, but he does want us to fix our eyes on him. What if instead of thinking about what could go wrong, we focused on what could go right? In Philippians 4:8–9, Paul writes that we should focus on what is true, pure, lovely, and so on. When we align our hearts with God’s, his peace fills our hearts regardless of our circumstances. Every moment of chaos, transition, and uncertainty is still covered in God’s purpose and love. He wants us to have peace because he knows the path ahead. All we need to do is put our hopes in him.
Pray – Jesus, I choose to trust that you are good and that you are working out all things in my life for good. Make my heart expectant and hopeful in the future you have planned for me.
Plan –Write down three things you’re having trouble trusting God with. Now write three things you can be hopeful for over those fears.
Pursue – Choose hope over fear this week. When your three fears come to mind, replace them with your hopes and remember God’s purposed plans for you.
