DREAMS

 

Ephesians 3:20-21

God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams!

God takes you JUST AS YOU ARE!

We say this a lot in our little but mighty campus in Venice, CA. 

‘Come as you are’...but don’t stay the same! 

It’s the one rule we have at our church!

We are humans and we are complicated. Somehow, we know how to live multiple lives at once. We are one person at work, a different one at church, and another one at home. We have a body, a mind and a soul that are somehow interconnected. We live inside of time with a past that haunts us and a future that scares us. 

Being human is complicated.

I don’t know about you, but sometimes I get anxious trying to explain to God what’s going on inside of my heart - my worries, my battles, my wins, my questions, my thoughts.

But our complexity is not foreign to God. I find hope in knowing that He receives me, He takes me, He welcomes me, simply and just as I am. I can be who I am in front of Him. This calms my mind. I can be human. Because God is not scared of my questions or my thoughts, and He is also not scared of my dreams overpowering His glory.

Jesus, I’m grateful

You take me simply as I am

God put a brain inside of us and dreams inside of our brains. Yet, those dreams so often are too small and leave little room for God. And the biggest tragedy isn’t just not accessing those dreams, but to have the wrong posture in our hearts to receive them.

We posture our hearts in gratitude and thanksgiving to God for the incredible dreams that He has placed inside of every human being that has ever lived. But we also posture our hearts with gratitude for the broken dreams; the unfinished, raw and imperfect pieces that create this MOSAIC called life.

All the blessings I’ve received 

You gave more than I could dream 

You didn’t stop where I could see

In the end, every blessing, every dream, our whole life, the million ‘thank yous’ and 'I’m sorrys’, everything that makes us human, we lift up to Him as a beautiful act of surrender. That’s our act of worship. That’s our dream.
