The Heart Attitudes: Part 2Sample
Philippians 2:3-4
“Do nothing out of rivalry or conceit, but in humility consider others as more important than yourselves. Everyone should look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.”
Heart Attitude #1
Put the Goals and interests of others above my own
It does not take us long to figure out that what we want is the most important desire in the world. We seem to have been born with that tendency. Just ask any parent when they first noticed it in their little angel, and you will get a quick answer. If we are honest, we know it about ourselves as well.
Self-preservation and self-satisfaction are natural. They are a part of basic human nature. Like all things natural, they can be corrupted by sin. Our desires can become so prominent that we never think about the desires of anyone else. Our needs trump everyone else’s needs.
That is the problem that this attitude corrects. Learning to put the goals of others and their needs above our own. It is easy to say and much tougher to implement!
On a scale from 1-10, how selfish are you? What would your friends and family say?
