DAY 4 OF 21

These must be two of the most beautiful verses ever written. It sounds like the storyline of a famous movie. You can see it play out on a big screen: A group of people, looking scared and lost. Some of them look angry and evil. But every person’s eyes look dead. You can see darkness and thunder and lightning. In the shadows, you can see broken earth and destruction. In the far distance, there is a light, but it is beyond reach. And then the whole scene changes. On the horizon, you see a warrior. Strong like no one you have ever seen before. You are drawn to him; you want to be close to him; but when you are close, you feel that he can read your mind and knows everything you have ever done. You want to run away, but you have never seen such love in anyone’s eyes before.

In Genesis 1:1, the Bible says that everything was formless and empty. That is what our lives were like before we met Jesus. Without God, we are lost, sad, angry, and dead inside. We were made to be with God, but our sin takes us away from God and makes us feel like God’s enemies. Jesus came, fully God, to bring peace between us and God. He knows everything about us AND STILL paid with HIS LIFE to make us friends with God again. The perfect love of Jesus brings us close to God, the gap forever closed.

But it is better than a movie because it is real. It is a true story. It can be our story.

Today is ThinkDay. Think back over this week. Everything you read in this plan. It is your turn to respond – you can do it by drawing a picture, writing a letter to Jesus, praying in your own words, or singing a song to Him, thanking Him for making you part of His True Story.
