SWHW Bible Reading Plan: October 2021Sample
Top Takeaway from Caroline Foster:
After the temple was completed in the first part of Zechariah, we see a transition to a focus on Israel’s future and the coming of Jesus Christ. The rest of the book contains a focus on the person, work, and glory of Christ.
Here are my five top takeaways from Zachariah 13-14:
1. God’s mercy is like a fountain- never ending. In John 4, Jesus tells of His “living water” that satisfies completely. If you are spiritually thirsty, know this: Jesus alone is the fountain. Salvation is in Him, and He longs to meet you where you are with grace and mercy.
2. Be a part of Christ's remnant. Throughout the history of Israel, whenever the nation seemed to turn on God, a small group of people remained committed. They continued to trust and follow Him through the fire. Obey God no matter what the rest of the world does. Be committed to being a part of the remnant.
3. Be ready. Throughout the Bible, we are told to watch for the day of the Lord. How would you live if you knew He was coming today? We must live each day with obedience and spiritual readiness.
4. Trust God, knowing that He holds the past and He holds the future. God wants to do more than we think or imagine. Zechariah was speaking to a small group of people who were discouraged by the current state of the church. He reminded them to stay steadfast and committed, as should we.
5. Be committed to spiritual growth. This happens when we spend time in the Word and in prayer intimately each day. When we talk with God and study His Word, we become more like Him. Be in the Word, soak It in, and listen for God. That’s where growth happens.
Lord, I pray over each woman reading this today. I pray that You would convict them in the areas that need convicting and give them the boldness to rise up and pursue growth in their walk with You. I know this isn’t easy, but You never promised it would be easy. You simply promised You would be with us every step of the way. Guide our steps today! We love You, Lord. Amen.

About this Plan
With God's Word as the foundation, each devotional is written by women in the trenches of faith, family and work, aiming to live for the glory of God and the good of others. There are enough devotions included for a typical 5-day work schedule. We recommend plugging into your local church for the remaining two days of each week.
