7 Biblical Principles on Parenting

DAY 5 OF 10

BIBLICAL PARENTING PRINCIPLE # 2: Provide for Them

We are called to provide for our children. Yes, we’re going to teach them to be able to build their own wealth and take care of themselves, but as a foundational principle, it’s God’s will that we as parents take care of our children and provide financially for them. A key way that we provide for them is also by teaching them to create wealth and live generously.

As we’re teaching our children to prosper and increase, it’s key that we teach them not to chase wealth or riches but to chase after the things of God and to focus on serving and loving people. The world will try to get us to focus on amassing things and toys and the security of a big bank account, but God calls us to focus on His kingdom first and trust in Him in all circumstances. Having fun and nice things isn’t the challenge, but when those things start controlling you, that is the problem. God gave Abraham the promise of blessing, but he said that he was blessed to be a blessing.

Do everything you can to teach and prepare your kids to prosper and thrive. Teach them God’s heart to bless them, and model that by doing all you can to provide and bless your children. As you’re blessing your own family, have them join you in being generous towards others to teach them that God never intends blessing to stop with us but to continue with serving others. Model generosity to your kids.

There will be other people who play a role in your child's development, but parents have the biggest impact and the most responsibility before God! This reading plan will look at 7 key Biblical principles from the Bible on how to raise a child. We're not just keeping our kids alive or surviving, but we'll learn how to raise Godly children who are healthy, happy, and successful.
