7 Biblical Principles on Parenting

DAY 8 OF 10

BIBLICAL PARENTING PRINCIPLE # 5: Show Them Jesus

The greatest honor and privilege a parent, grandparent, or guardian has is introducing their kids to Jesus. Your child cannot get to heaven because you’re a Christian or even because you, as a family, go to church. Our children will go to heaven if they choose to receive Jesus as the Lord of their lives. Teaching our kids about God and showing them how to have a relationship with Jesus must be a key focus of our parenting. If we send our kids to the best schools, connect them to influential people, and set them up with great career opportunities, but we don't give them Jesus, we’ve given them nothing.

Being Born Again

Jesus calls us to be born again, but this time through the Spirit. Because we’re all born into sin, we are under the curse of that sin, but through Jesus, we are rescued and redeemed. Our children need that same thing. Salvation isn’t just for older adults after they’ve sinned enough times; we’re all born into sin and need His grace from day one.

First Disciple

As Jesus was leaving earth after rising from the dead, He commissioned His disciples to go and make disciples. Our children are our first disciples. You might think that you’re not qualified and that disciple-making is for pastors, but it’s our privilege if we have kids to disciple them. What does that mean? Making a disciple is to show them how to know and follow Jesus. So, first, we introduce them to Jesus, and then we begin to show them how to live for Him.

About this Plan

7 Biblical Principles on Parenting

Children are a gift from the Lord, and you, as a parent, are God's greatest guardian, protection, and preparation gift to your child. There will be other people who play a role in your child's development, but parents have the biggest impact and the most responsibility before God! This reading plan will look at 7 key Biblical principles from the Bible on how to raise a child. We're not just keeping our kids alive or surviving, but we'll learn how to raise Godly children who are healthy, happy, and successful.
