The Spirit of PrayerSample
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
PURPOSE
The purpose of our prayers is his will be done, we offer ourselves and our time of prayer as living sacrifices to God in worship.
Romans 12:2
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
We are called to not conform to this world but seek the will of God on earth, to pray for the advancement of his Kingdom. We can do this in our individual prayer time, but we can also do this in our church prayer meetings. that is the time we come together in the prayer of agreement that truly advances the Kingdom. We can feel the sense of Kingdom as we gather and pray for his will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Corporate prayer releases the will of God, it releases answers to impossible situations. 2 Chronicles 7:13-16 says that our prayers can release the rain and heal the land. But there is a condition to the promise, in 2 Chronicles 7:14 it says, “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray.” Did you notice the if..?
It’s up to us to get activated and pray together! To humble ourselves, seek his face, turn to him and pray. That is why praying together as a church is so important, God is attentive and hears the prayers of a praying church.
Remember It was a praying church that opened the prison doors for Peter in Acts 12:5-14,
So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him. When this had dawned on him, he went to the house of Mary the mother of John, also called Mark, where many people had gathered and were praying. Peter knocked at the outer entrance, and a servant named Rhoda came to answer the door. When she recognised Peter’s voice, she was so overjoyed she ran back without opening it and exclaimed, “Peter is at the door!”
God will open prison doors when the church gets together and prays!
Prayer: I thank you Lord for your Kingdom and the moments we get to pray as the Body of Christ to see your Kingdom advance on this earth. I thank you Lord that our churches are bringing your Kingdom and I ask that our church would be a place of prayer for all nations, a place where your will is done and that you would use us to pray for healing in our land.
KEY PRAYER POINT: PRAY FOR YOUR CHURCH PRAYER MEETING THAT GOD WOULD FAN INTO FLAME THE GIFT OF PRAYER IN THOSE MEETINGS AS WE SEEK HIM FOR OUR CHURCH AND NATION.
