Don't Give Up!

DAY 2 OF 7

Moses

Moses had plenty of excuses for why he was not good enough to fulfill God’s calling. He was slow to speak and did not know what to say. He assumed the Israelites would not listen to him and believed there had to be someone better. Yet God told him to go anyway and command Pharaoh to let His people go.

Moses finally obeyed, and Pharaoh said no—again and again. When Pharaoh eventually agreed, the Israelites found themselves trapped between the Red Sea and an approaching army ready to capture them. The people cried out, certain they were going to die. I have often wondered how Moses felt in that moment. He may have believed he was a complete failure.

Then God performed one of the greatest miracles in history—one that is still talked about 3,000 years later and known even by unbelievers. The Red Sea was parted, and the Israelites walked to safety. It is possible that God would not have needed to perform such a miracle if Pharaoh had obeyed the first time. Moses had to “fail” according to the world’s definition so that God’s true glory could be revealed.

Sometimes the Lord calls you to something, but that does not mean it will look successful—at least not in your own eyes. God has a plan, and it is good. What He accomplishes will be worth every perceived failure.

Don’t Give Up.

Have you ever felt like someone was coming against you? These words are for you: don’t give up. The Lord has a plan and a purpose for your life. He is working all things together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28).

You may not understand what is happening. It may be difficult. People may oppose you, and it may feel like you have failed. Keep trusting God and be patient, because He is using your trial for something amazing.

About this Plan

Don't Give Up!

Read the stories of seven people in the Bible who could have given up—but didn’t. Each one was called with a purpose and persevered through difficulties and trials. They were ordinary people, just like you and me. God wants you to know that no matter what you are facing, you don’t have to give up. He is using your story for something good.
