I AmSample

If you listen to music loud enough, you can start to feel it throughout your body. Whether you're at a concert or in a car with your best friend, there are times when you can feel the bass shake your bones or thump in your chest. Even though you can't see them, the sound waves that radiate from your speakers can have a physical impact on your body as they crash into you. That means the things you say are literally altering the space and reality around you!
We see something similar happen when Jesus speaks in John 10. Not only do his words alter physical dimensions, but they completely change the spiritual direction of whole groups of people. In this story, Jesus told his followers he's just like a good shepherd who would lay down his life for his sheep. With this metaphor, Jesus reveals himself to be someone who loves us deeply and who desires for all of us to have an eternal connection with God — even if it costs him everything.
There are a lot of different ways we might describe who Jesus is, but when we let him speak for himself, his description is so much more than we could ever anticipate. In his own words, Jesus tells us just how much he loves us and how he is willing to give up everything for us. We can let Jesus' words reverberate over our lives as we listen and truly hear how Jesus is love.

About this Plan

When Jesus was on earth, there were a few times when he told his followers exactly who he was. For the next four weeks, we'll explore some of these stories to find out how Jesus described himself to others. We'll take a look at what changes when we hear Jesus tell us he is love, he is truth, he is always with us, and how he is our Savior.
