I AmSample

Have you ever gotten yourself in a bad situation? Perhaps one decision (or maybe a couple of them) landed you in a mess. Every effort on your part to get yourself unstuck failed. You felt the weight of it bearing down on you, and you just wanted to escape. You tried to be your own hero but ended up feeling like your own worst enemy.
Maybe it's not a situation you need rescuing from. Maybe it's the negative way you view yourself or something you are keeping a secret that's weighing you down. Rescue for you may look like a release of shame or stepping out of darkness and into the light.
Jesus knew how messy life was when he chose to save us. He conquered sin and death to provide our ultimate salvation. With Jesus as our rescue, his saving power is available to us no matter how far we feel from him. He is always reaching out, knocking, and right here with us. We just have to turn to him.
God's help may come in the form of strength to turn from harmful decisions. It may come in the form of a trusted person leaning in to help us in our time of need. God's rescue will always come in the form of a gift, offered freely, and never earned or deserved. This help and rescue is what grace and mercy look like. God's rescue is Jesus — forgiving, restoring, and saving.

About this Plan

When Jesus was on earth, there were a few times when he told his followers exactly who he was. For the next four weeks, we'll explore some of these stories to find out how Jesus described himself to others. We'll take a look at what changes when we hear Jesus tell us he is love, he is truth, he is always with us, and how he is our Savior.
