Treat Everyone Equal

"My dear brothers and sisters, how can you claim to have faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ if you favor some people over others?"

It is easy to favor one person over another. It is easy to gravitate toward certain personalities or to think that one group of friends is better than another. Truth is, everyone is equal in God’s sight. When Jesus lives inside of you, His thoughts become your thoughts. His ways become your ways; therefore, treat everyone the same. It is okay to have a “best friend.” Jesus had his dear friends like Peter and John, but Jesus treated everyone with compassion and love. Jesus was never prejudiced against a group of people that was different from him. Just the opposite—Jesus met people where they were and loved them.

We need to act the same way. We need to treat others with love and respect even if they are different than us. All people are equal, even in a high school setting. No one group is better than or worse than another group. Have the motto “love well” be part of your everyday life.

Father,

Thank you for loving me and sending your son Jesus to show me how to act in love towards others. It’s easy to think I am better or worse than others, and I realize that is wrong. Forgive me for thinking that way. Open up my eyes and help me see people the way you see people.
