God’s Little Astronomer: A 5-Day Reading Plan for Kids

DAY 5 OF 5

Day 5: Praise God

The sun, Earth’s closest star, is a hot ball of gas that gives off heat and energy so people, plants, and animals can live and grow. Its gravity holds our solar system together.

Little astronomer, at this very moment, you are orbiting around a star, our sun. The sun is in the middle of our solar system. The eight planets, five dwarf planets, moons, and millions of asteroids, meteoroids, and comets travel with us around the sun. God created the sun to support life. God is like the sun, only better. He gives you life and every good thing.

Stand in Awe:

The Earth spins as it travels around the sun, and it takes a year for Earth to complete its orbit. Every birthday marks one year orbiting the sun on this unique planet.

Discuss:

View the sunset. The sun dazzles with God’s glory and beauty. How many orbits around the sun have you traveled?

Pray:

Dear God, You are an amazing Creator. Thank You for the sun that helps me to live on this planet. Thank You for loving me and giving me every good thing I need to live. Amen.

About this Plan

God’s Little Astronomer: A 5-Day Reading Plan for Kids

Based on Tina Cho’s book, God’s Little Astronomer, this devotional will help families behold the beauty of God’s creation—from the stars and planets to asteroids and meteoroids. Young astronomers will understand that God’s creation reflects His love for them. God’s glory shines throughout the heavens, but His children matter most. Embark on an out-of-this-world journey through outer space and marvel at God’s handiwork and love!
