Sustenance (S3-E8)Sample

Blessed Abundance
Jesus has been teaching for a long time. The crowd listens closely, asking questions and soaking in His words. The Gospel tells us that Jesus sees them as sheep without a shepherd, and He keeps teaching them. Time passes. Evening approaches. Hunger sets in.
There is just one problem. The crowd is massive. More than five thousand people. And there is no food.
No markets nearby. No supplies waiting. Just one small lunch offered from the crowd: five loaves of bread and two fish. If you stop to do the math, it is clearly not enough. Not even close.
But Jesus seems to think differently. “It’s enough for Me. I can do a lot with it.”
What feels insufficient in human hands becomes more than enough in His.
Jesus takes the bread. He blesses it. He breaks it. And somehow, in His hands, the small offering multiplies. Everyone eats. Everyone is satisfied. And when the meal is over, there is more left than when it began.
This story invites an honest question: what do you have to offer?
You may look at your time, your gifts, your resources, or your influence and think they are too small to matter. Compared to the needs around you, what you have may feel insignificant. But Jesus never asks for what you do not have. He asks you to bring what you do have.
The miracle does not begin with abundance. It begins with surrender.
Imagine the courage it took for that boy to give up his lunch. He could have kept it for himself. Instead, he trusted Jesus with it. And through that simple act, thousands were fed.
What would it look like for you to do the same?
When you place what you have in Jesus’ hands, He multiplies it in ways you cannot predict. What feels small becomes meaningful. What feels limited becomes a blessing.
Will you trust Him with what you have today?
Reflection Questions
- What has Jesus already placed in your hands?
- Where might you be holding back instead of trusting Him?
- What invitation do you sense from Jesus through this story?
Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for what You have entrusted to me. Help me not to cling to it out of fear, but to place it in Your hands. Teach me to trust You with what I have, even when it feels small. Multiply it for Your purposes and let it become a blessing to others. I surrender it to You today. Amen.
