Quick! Think of your favorite restaurant…What is your go-to spot when you need a bomb (good) meal? Got it? Okay, do you remember when you first had it? What was one of the first things you did after you had that spot?

You told someone about it, right? You were probably adamant about it, too.

Telling all your family and friends, “Hey, you have to try this spot right here.” You probably weren’t even getting paid to do it as an influencer, but you advertised, or should I say, evangelized for that restaurant. And honestly, you probably did that for a few restaurants.

Now, in the same way that you shared the good news over a restaurant, how often have you shared the Gospel of Jesus with others? That question is meant to be convicting, but don’t stop reading because this devotional will help spur you into our mandate as believers and disciples of Christ to share the Gospel.

We are commanded to evangelize, but a recent study suggests that only 1% of people say they have the gift of evangelism, and 1% of churches say they are very effective at evangelism (Church Answers). For something that Jesus commanded us to do, I think you’d agree that 1% is unacceptable.

Overall, we have to be better about sharing the single greatest event in Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection, and how our decision to follow Jesus is the best decision we have ever made. The time is now. Over the next few days, I’ll share how you’re already equipped to evangelize and a few practical steps to help you be effective in your evangelistic efforts. But don’t wait to complete the plan to start evangelizing. Start right now with what you know. The world needs to hear the Gospel, and you are the one to share it.

Prayer: Lord, help me to evangelize everywhere I go as you have commanded us to do. I desire to share how my life has changed because of you, my Lord and Savior. In Jesus’ name, amen.
