Rich Dad, Poor SonSample

DAY 6: THE PROBLEM IS NOT MONEY, IT’S THE HEART
Welcome to Day 6.
Money is not the problem. It never was. The real issue is what’s in the heart. Many people fear having abundance because they feel they could get lost, drift away, or become distant from God. The root of that fear often lies in what has yet to be transformed inside. When the heart is healthy and aligned with the Kingdom, resources don’t rule… they serve.
Jesus made it very clear in Luke 16:13 (NIV): “No one can serve two masters.” You cannot say God is your King and still live as a slave to money. In Matthew 19, the rich young ruler obeyed, had values, and even sought Jesus… but his heart was so attached to his possessions that when Jesus called him, he couldn’t obey. The saddest part wasn’t just that he left feeling sorrowful. The real tragedy was that he chose to follow his treasure instead of following the Son of God.
Have you ever known what God was asking from you, but deep down you wanted something else? I have. That internal struggle is more common than we admit. And it’s right there—in the tension between obedience and personal desire—where it becomes clear whom we truly serve. Matthew 6:21 (NIV) sums it up in one simple but powerful phrase: “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
God has called me to manage abundance, but I’ve learned that even a legitimate calling can derail you if it becomes your main focus. When purpose gets blurred by desire, even good things can take God’s place.
God is not at war with wealth. He is the source of all provision. The conflict begins when we trust more in what we have than in the One who provided it. The rich young ruler thought he had everything, but in reality, he was spiritually empty. The only thing Jesus asked of him was to let go of what ruled his heart. Not because Jesus wanted to take something away, but because He wanted to give him something greater: eternal life, eternal purpose, and a wealth that never runs out.

REFLECTION:
It’s not about how much you have, but how much what you have controls you.
- Do your decisions show that God comes first?
- Or do your resources dictate your steps?
Examine your heart. The problem was never the money… it was the place it held.
----
MEDITATION:
Read Matthew 19:21-22 and ask yourself: If Jesus asked me for something today, would I let it go? Is there anything sitting on the throne of my heart that should belong to God?
