Father’s Love: 30 Days of Discovering God as FatherSample

Day 4 – A Comforter
God is your comforter. Close your eyes and imagine your favorite comforter and how it makes you feel when you wrap yourself in it as if it was your hiding place. God is ever ready to wrap His arms around you in every good or bad situation you may find yourself in. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (ESV) refers to God as the Father of mercies and God of all comforts...
Before we had a child, my husband and I laughed at how ridiculous parents looked when their kids run to them crying about a small cut (most of them imaginary) as if there was a need for immediate surgery. The parent will ask for the spot that hurts, kiss it and the child will stop crying. I never experienced this growing up from my father and I come from a culture that thought affection and pampering a child was taboo. But now, as parents, my husband and I are so quick to comfort our daughter even before she runs to us, we run to her first.
No matter what you are currently facing or may face, Jesus says in Matthew 11:28 (ESV), “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” He sees your pain, tears, disappointments, needs, hurts, everything.God’s compassion meets you in your lowest placesand reminds you that you are never alone in your struggles. His comfort heals wounds that no one else can touch or see.
Take a quiet moment today to release your pain to God and allow His comfort to embrace you.
Read, internalize, and pray each scripture to deepen your faith.
